Although these two species look different, it is their personalities and behavior that provide the most striking comparison.
The black-footed albatross are more wary of people. The nest near the Islands most remote beaches. A finger put too close to their bill is likely to come off.
The Moli or Laysan Albatross nest right in the middle of "town". This one greets me every morning as I head off to work.
Unlike the bone splitting snaps of the Black-Feet, the Moli's more petite beak produces sort of a nibble, but it rarely comes to that.
I have not yet decided which one is superior.
